From the Sketchbooks 7

Sometime around 2004, I started obsessing over drawing cross sectionals of the earth. It was a take off my favorite pictures in school science textbooks from my childhood. I created a larger version of the above on poster board and put it up on my roommate's wall. It was a long landscape, in black marker that went the length of the room and started with a deep ocean and ended in a city. I took comfort in the 2D side map of a non-existent place. Years later, I saw in the subway cross sectional illustrations, as well in the works of several other artists. I suppose I just had the same ideas that other people were bandying around at the time.
